Matthew 1:9

Jan 07, 2022

“Uzziah was the father of Jotham.

Jotham was the father of Ahaz.

Ahaz was the father of Hezekiah.”

Uzziah became king at 16 years old.

He reigned in Jerusalem for 52 years.

He was known for doing things that pleased the Lord.

He was good to his people.

He had great things built.

He was loved by his people.

Because of the great success that God gave him,

He began to be filled with pride.

He thought he was invincible.

He thought the success was all because of him.

One day he went into the temple

And began to burn incense.

This was a practice that only the priests

We’re supposed to do.

He was confronted by several priests

And began arguing with them.

While he was yelling at them,

Leprosy came upon him.

From that point on,

He was isolated and his oldest son stepped into rule in his place.

Pride.

When God gives you success,

Give him the glory.

Don’t let your heart get filled with pride.

Eventually it will back slide on you and your entire world will crumble.

Proverbs 11:2

“Pride leads to disgrace,

But with humility comes wisdom.”

Proverbs 3:34

“The Lord laughs at those who laugh at him.

But he Is kind to those who are not proud.”

Uzziah remains in the lineage of Jesus.

Even after his fall,

God still counted him in.

There is an account you must face for your actions.

That doesn’t always mean God doesn’t love you.

That doesn’t always mean God won’t count you in.

But you are responsible for your actions.

Thankfully through Jesus Christ,

Now we are forgiven because of what he has done for us.

We don’t get sent to isolation by God for leprosy.

The world may try to isolate us,

But God through Jesus will unite us once and for all.
