Luke 2:6-7
Jan 07, 2022“When they arrived in Bethlehem,
Mary went into labor,
And there she gave birth to her firstborn son.
She wrapped the newborn baby in
Strips of cloth,
And Mary and Joseph laid him
In a feeding trough
Since there was no available space
In any upper room in the village.”
No available space in any upper room in the village.
I can picture Joseph in a little bit of a panic.
His wife thats having a baby,
That’s not really his,
But he knows its from God,
Is about to give birth
And the best he has to offer is a feeding trough.
Talking about bringing it back down to reality.
No available space in any upper room in the village.
This statement is captivating to me.
Because later in life,
Jesus has some very monumental moments
In the upper room.
His very last moment with his disciples.
The last supper. The Passover meal.
Jesus sends Peter and John ahead to prepare.
Tells them to look for a specific man and to follow him.
Luke 22:12
“And he will show you a
Large upper room furnished;
Prepare it there.”
Jesus then walks them through the first communion
In the upper room.
Jesus calls out his betrayal.
In the upper room.
Jesus invites them to eat and drink at his table for eternity.
In the upper room.
Jesus announces Peters denial.
In the upper room.
Holy Spirit encounter in the upper room.
This is after Jesus died, was buried, was resurrected and ascended back to heave.
Acts 1:13
“When they arrived, they went to the upper room
Of the house where they were staying.”
Acts 2:1-4
“When the Feast of Pentecost came,
They were all together in one place.
Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind,
Gale force - no one could tell where it came from.
It filled the whole house.
Then, like a wildfire,
The Holy Spirit spread through their ranks,
And they started speaking in a number of
Different languages as the Spirit promoted them.”
Maybe your story didn’t start out well.
Maybe there wasn’t room for you.
Maybe you were unwanted.
Maybe you were betrayed.
Maybe you were denied.
Maybe you were left out.
Maybe.
Our God is a redeeming God.
He rewrites the story that the world wants to give you.
He takes the ordinary and makes it magnificent.
Don’t let the beginning of your story,
Be the end of what he has for you.
Your upper room is filled with power.
Your upper room is filled with force.
Let God redeem your story.
He is opening doors for you.
He is making a way for you.
He is unlocking mysteries for you.
His version of the story is much better than the worlds.
Start living from his edition.
